Trademark Law in the United Arab Emirates is governed by the Ministry of Economy under Federal Law No. (37) of 1992. Trademark Registered is valid for all the seven emirates: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, and Fujairah. The trademark certificate would be valid for Ten years.

Trademark Registration Process

Filing

This is the stage where we submit the application and obtain the official filing number of the application. Once we receive the filing details, we will send them to you

Examination

All trademark examinations are done in the Ministry of Economy in Abu Dhabi. This is the stage where the trademark examiner scrutinizes your application whether it will be accepted, as for a technical requirement or rejected. In case your application is accepted, we will send you an email informing you that your trademark has been accepted

Publications

Once your application is accepted, your application will be published in two local Arabic newspapers and the trademark journal. In this stage your application will be open for opposition or objection by a third party in a specific period of time and that is 30 days from the date of its publication.

Registration

If there’s no opposition filed against your application during the publication stage, the final registration fees must be paid for the issuance of the registration certificate.

Please note that a period of 2-3 months will be taken to complete the registration process.
